HI! I'm Mrs. Arthur, your 5th grade English Language Arts teacher. This is my fifth year teaching 5th grade at ATES. It's a joy to be part of shaping the future college and career paths of our students. Fifth grade can be a challenging year, but we use those challenges as building blocks to success. Together we will learn reading strategies to add to your "toolbox," grammar "do's and don'ts," and super easy writing strategies you'll use for years to come. Along with these academic gains, I look to help my students make personal gains such as, accountability, personal responsibility, and kindness. It is my goal to prepare our students for middle school and beyond when they leave Atoka Elementary. I look forward to seeing each of you grow and mature throughout our year together with lots of great memories too!
A little about me: My husband, Clint, and I have been married for seven years. We have three boys, Caden, Bo Banks, and Brooks......and they are "all boy!" Caden will be in 4th grade at Atoka, and Bo Banks begins his kindergarten year here as well. Sweet Brooks turned one year this summer. We all love to be outdoors, and you can find us camping, gardening, and going to the lake. My older boys enjoy playing sports, especially football. We are huge Tennessee Vols fans!
I graduated from the University of Memphis with my Bachelor's degree.
I am greatly fond of coffee and everything chocolate, but especially butterfingers!!
I enjoy reading for fun and journaling.
Nothing makes me happier than manners, honesty, and a positive attitude!
About Mrs. Dawson
Welcome to 5th Grade! I'm Mrs. Dawson, your math, science, and social studies teacher. This is my seventh year teaching 5th grade! I am super excited to watch each of my students learn and grow this school year. It is my firm belief that setting high academic and behavioral expectations for my students is the best preparation for their transition into middle school. It is my goal that all of "my kids" leave my classroom as responsible, respectful citizens ready to take on any academic challenge they may face! In my class, we will be learning all of the necessary math strategies and content in a way that helps us relate what we're learning to real life. In addition, we will become scientists and historians as we investigate the world around us and discover people, places, and events of the past. It's going to be a fun-filled year of learning!
A little about me: My husband, Hunter, and I have been married for almost 6 years. We have one son, Drew, that will be 3 in December. In our free time, you can find us attending or watching some kind of Memphis Tigers athletic event, spending time with our family, or enjoying time outside.
I received my Bachelor's Degree from Middle Tennessee State University.
Chocolate, Dr. Pepper, Starbucks Coffee, and Beach Vacations are just a few of my favorite things!
Shopping, reading for fun, listening to music, and watching HGTV are some of my hobbies.
